GRANDMASTER CHO SUIT & BELT Q & A
A.I.M.A.A MASTERS SCHOOL ETHICS CHILDREN IN TKD

Action International Martial Arts Association

Let us help with your Questions?

I would like to see my child's confidence increase. Will TKD really help?

YES!!! Our entire system is based on building self-confidence: from daily successes in class; to earning new stripes, stars, patches, and belts; to breaking their first board; to the day they become Black Belt. Confidence will soar not only in TKD, but also at home, with friends, and at school.

Will TKD cause my child to become more aggressive toward their peers?

Quiet the opposite because children learn discipline and self-control through their practice of TaeKwonDo. The defensive nature of TKD is continually reinforced in class. One child recently relayed a story of being confronted by a bully at school. The mere mention of his TKD abilities was enough to discourage the aggressor. This is just one example of how TKD can help your child now and for years to come.

Sounds great, but will my child learn to defend themselves should they ever have to?

Yes, TKD is extremely powerful means of self-defence. In fact, many of our students have won local, regional, and national championships through our training. Others, when forced to defend themselves, in "uncontrolled" situations, have stopped aggressors/bullies from attacking. While we know that our instruction provides our students with the ability to fight when absolutely necessary, we constantly stress that the strongest weapon is the mind not the fist.

Are there any other benefits to TKD?

More than most realize! We insist that our students succeed outside of our classroom as well as inside. Unless our students do well in school and show respect to their parents, siblings, teachers, and other adults, they will not be allowed to advance in our program. We encourage parents to reinforce positive behavior outside of classes (i.e. do their homework, make their bed, put their dishes in the sink, and be nice to their siblings). Progress is rewarded and improvement is always encouraged!

I have always wanted to try Tae Kwon Do, but I don’t know anything about the Martial Art. I must admit that I’m a little nervous about getting started.

Here’s the great news!!! We start every prospective student with a 1 Week Trial Program. During the Trial Program, you will learn the basic stance, movements, and kick. You’ll also have chance to meet other students who enjoy studying TKD. This is your opportunity to see if TKD is right for you and to discover for yourself why Cho`s AIMAA Scotland TaeKwonDo  is the best Martial Arts Association.

What happens after my 1 Week Trial Program?

If you are completely thrilled with your TKD Training & Fitness experience and would like to continue your training, you will continue training with the same group of students you met through your Trial Program.

Do I have to be in great shape to be a student?

Not at all. We have students who get started from a wide variety of fitness level.

Where Tae Kwon Do is a way of life!

What kind of person are you likely to find at a TKD Training & Fitness Adult Class?

You may be surprised to find that classes are made up of adults of all ages and from every conceivable background. We have students who are engineers, teachers, nurses, flight attendant, students, business owners, accountant, police officers, computer analyst, cashier, and so on. Thought you may run into a class full of “tough guys” anxious to prove themselves at your expense? Not a chance at the AIMAA clubs. Our classes are made up of people just like you. You may also be surprised to learn that our adult classes are 50% female.

What are the benefits of practicing TKD for an adult?

TaeKwonDo is a great work out. You will improve flexibility, tone muscles, and get excellent cardiovascular workout! While you are conditioning your body, you will be strengthening your mind, building confidence, self-discipline, and self-esteem. Do you find yourself getting bored with the traditional exercise program? You will love and enjoy the mental challenge of TaeKwonDo.

Self-Discipline could change your child's life for ever.

Discipline can be broken down into three categories. Children who have self-discipline will do what they know is right without being told. Children who are disciplined will do what they are told to do, but children who have no discipline will not even do that. Our program teaches children to develop self-discipline.

Respect  for others is the first line of self-defence.

Children learn how to say "Yes, Sir/Ma'am" and "No, Sir/Ma'am" in their very first class. They are also taught self-respect by learning to keep their environment clean, not to take drugs and appreciate education. Remembering names is a social skill that is developed in martial arts and also shows respect.

Goal Setting is another concept that starts with the very first class.

Sometimes people don't set goals high enough for themselves. We teach students to set very high goals and to persevere to try to reach their goals. Some people have the ability to get through rough times and stay focused on their goals. We want all of our students to develop this indomitable spirit. By doing so, a high degree of success and potential is attained.
